The Graduates - 2011

Here they are! Your Class of 2011 Seminary Graduates. I love them all and will miss their smiling faces at 5:50 am next year. Despite what has been said, they actually are awake and responsive, some quite a bit and some a little less, but I could not have been blessed with any youth that are stronger, kinder or more dedicated than those in our class. May God pour out his sweetest blessings upon each of you.

L to R: Rene Alvarado, Dayna Paul, (me), Alyssa Clark, Seth Olson, Kaiulani Fauatea, and Kiersten Teague. (not pictured-Ryan Cecil)

It's Auction time!!!

That most exciting and anticipated time of year is almost upon us. Yes, I'm talking about the Scripture Buck Auction! It will be held on Friday, February 18th. (Same date for both classes.) New money is being created as you read, so get those scripture mastery verses memorized and start answering questions and make sure you arrive by 5:49! Don't forget, becoming a follower on the blog and leaving comments also garners bucks.
For the most fun, Sister Lee and I are asking everyone to bring something. And remember-odd is good. And it doesn't have to be new or expensive. Extra gift cards have been nice, but so were the bags o'ties and baked goods. Be creative. And start your preparations now!!!

Elder Johnson, a video, and a challenge.

Today in seminary we had the great opportunity of hearing Travis Johnson bear his testimony about the blessings of obedience and scripture study and memorization. Travis is an amazing servant of God who has touched our hearts through the Spirit. While Travis leaves for Chile, we still have important work to do right here at home. Watch this amazing video and leave a message about how it inspired you. (Yes, scripture bucks will be involved for those who follow directions!)

God bless you Elder Johnson! And God bless the seminary students of the Valley View building. Now, get to work!!!

Parents! I need your help.

In these dark and cold days of January I am especially amazed at our youth who sacrifice warmth and sleep to come to seminary. I hope they remember they are following the example of millions of saints who have gone before them and will be examples to the millions who are yet to come.

Parents: Do you know of any early saints in your family? Please let me know so we can talk about them in class and make our lessons more personal. If you are like me-a convert-would you consider sharing with me the incidents surrounding your or your family member's conversion? Looking at our genealogy chart I just realized that Evan is descended from John Johnson, who's home is pictured above. How sad if he had grown up and never knew about his family's history in the early stages of the restoration! We all have a story to tell-we hope you will share yours with us.
